Four Benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign is rapidly becoming the most requested orthodontic treatment for patients that live in or work near Marlborough MA. Invisalign is a clear, virtually invisible thermoplastic aligner system that gives the wearer the ability to remove the appliance when eating, brushing, or flossing. Dr. Deborah Himelhoch of Smiles in Framingham is experienced and knowledgeable in providing orthodontic treatment with Invisalign near Marlborough MA.

Invisalign is a series of clear plastic aligners that are created by your orthodontist to gradually move your teeth into their correct position in your mouth. Using 3-D technology, Dr. Deborah Himelhoch is able to prescribe a treatment plan and even preview with you the results at the end of treatment.

Four Benefits of Invisalign in Marlborough MA

1. Virtually Invisible. Because Invisalign is made out of a thermoplastic material, it is almost invisible. You will be the only one who knows that you have something in your mouth that is adjusting your teeth and improving your smile. Invisalign has no metal brackets or wires that may irritate the wearer’s mouth.

2. Completely Removable. Traditional metal braces are attached to the surfaces of the teeth securely until the course of treatment is complete. Invisalign is completely removable and can be taken out for convenient cleaning, brushing, and flossing. There are no restrictions on your diet as there may be with . Patients with traditional metal braces must avoid foods that are extremely sticky or hard. Patients with Invisalign clear aligners, however, do not have to change their diet because Invisalign aligners are removed by the wearer every time they eat. It is also easier then to brush your teeth and keep your mouth fresh and clean with Invisalign. Dr. Deborah Himelhoch recommends patients that live in Marlborough MA that Invisalign aligners be worn consistently and only taken out for meals, brushing, and flossing.

3. Faster Treatment Time. Patients with Invisalign usually experience a shorter orthodontic treatment time than those with traditional metal braces. Each treatment plan depends on the individual patient and how much work they need to have done. Most patients with Invisalign wear it for a year or a year and a half, while patients with typically have them on for a year-and-a-half or two years.

4. More Comfortable Than Traditional Metal Braces. Invisalign patients report less discomfort than with traditional metal braces, because there are no metal wires and brackets to break and irritate the inside of your mouth. Dr. Deborah Himelhoch says any discomfort patients experience with Invisalign is when aligners are changed out every two weeks. Typically this disappears within the first 12 hours after changing sets.

Dr. Deborah Himelhoch and the team at Smiles in Framingham near Marlborough MA can help you achieve the results you seek with your very own, customized treatment plan. They’ll help you get the straight, confident smile you’ve always hoped for without the discomfort and commitment of traditional metal braces.

To all my wonderful patients and their families:

The greatest pleasures of my career are watching children grow strong and healthy and seeing smiles become more beautiful. It has been a tremendous privilege to be a part of that growth and transformation. Now, however, it is time for me to slow down and share the care of my patients.

Starting in September 2022, Smiles in Framingham will merge with Moynihan Dental Specialists. I will remain with the practice, but will reduce my hours and give up administrative responsibilities. The wonderful team of people you and I have come to rely on will be staying. They will continue to help care for you. There will also be new faces, new people who will get to know and care for and about you.

Dr. Michael Moynihan is a second generation dentist and orthodontist practicing in Framingham. Dr. Mike, as he is known, is on the faculty of Boston University in the department of orthodontics. We spent two years as teaching partners supervising the Boston University orthodontic residents as they treated special needs children at Franciscan Hospital for Children. It was during that time I came to appreciate both how skilled Dr. Mike is and how much he cares about his patients. I retired from teaching prior to the pandemic, but Dr. Mike still puts much of his time and energy into teaching the next generation of orthodontists.

I met Dr. Daniel Moynihan when he was my student in 2017. Even at that time he was one of my most conscientious students. He cares deeply about all of his patients and I am proud to be associated with him. Dr. Dan is highly skilled with all aspects of orthodontics, including treatment using Invisalign and other aligners.

Dr. Katherine Moynihan and Dr. Christine Chiao are other members of the Moynihan team. Dr. Katherine Moynihan finished her orthodontic training at Boston University in 2021. Dr. Christine Chiao is a pediatric dentist, who also teaches at the Boston University School of Dental Medicine.

Life is an adventure with many chapters, twists, and turns. I enter this chapter of my life looking forward to what comes next and feeling some sadness that this phase of my life is changing. For now, we will be keeping all appointments as scheduled. We will contact you individually about any appointment changes. All orthodontic contracts will be honored with care provided by the orthodontists. I have every confidence that the doctors of Moynihan Dental Specialists will provide you with excellent care for many years to come.

My very best wishes to all of you,

Dr. Deborah Himelhoch
