What is a Board Certified Orthodontist in Framingham MA?

In addition to being a board certified pediatric dentist, Dr. Himelhoch is also a board certified orthodontist. An orthodontist is a specialist within the field of dentistry. The primary concern of an orthodontist is with fixing improper bites, or malocclusions. Some common types of malocclusions include overbites, underbites, and crossbites.

In order to become an orthodontist, a dentist must not only complete a graduate program in dentistry, but also complete an additional 2-3 years of training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. After completion of this program, an orthodontist can achieve board certification, by passing a written examination given by the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO).

This voluntary process of becoming board certified displays an orthodontist dedication to providing quality care to their patients.  Board certified orthodontists must re-new their certification every 10 years to demonstrate their continuous commitment to excellence.
